The first column features an icon of a car with a shield to symbolize basic coverage. The second column shows a car with a lock, representing theft protection in a limited coverage. The third column includes a car with a shining shield and repair tools to highlight comprehensive coverage. The design is clean, with no text and distinctive colors for each column.
Differences between basic, limited, and comprehensive coverage in car insurance

Car insurance is divided into four main categories: liability, basic, limited, and comprehensive. Below are the simple explanations of their differences:

"Seguro de Responsabilidad Civil" (Liability Insurance):

• Covers only civil liability.

• Meets the minimum legal requirements.

"Seguro Básico" (Basic Insurance):

• Includes liability coverage.

• Protects the vehicle occupants in case of injury from accidents or assaults.

• Offers services such as towing, locksmith, and legal guarantees.

"Seguro Limitado" (Limited Insurance):

• Includes all of the above.

• Adds protection against total theft of the vehicle.

"Seguro de Cobertura Amplia" (Full Coverage):

• Includes all of the above.

• Covers material damage to your car, such as accidents or vandalism.

Example:

  • "Responsabilidad Civil" (Liability): If you have an accident and it’s your fault, the insurance will cover the damage caused to third parties but not to your own vehicle.

  • "Básico" (Basic): In addition to the above, includes assistance, such as sending qualified personnel to jump-start your car battery if it dies.

  • "Limitado" (Limited): Adds indemnity in case of theft of your vehicle.

  • "Amplio" (Full): Covers all of the above and also includes repair or indemnity for your vehicle in case of an accident.

Additional Benefits:

Some insurers offer additional coverage, such as:

  • Gap Insurance: Covers the remaining balance of the financial credit if it exceeds the insured value of the vehicle.

  • "Vehículo Sustituto" (Substitute Vehicle): Provides a vehicle while yours is being repaired or in case of total loss or theft.

  • "Robo Parcial" (Partial Theft): Indemnifies for the theft of parts or accessories that are original to the manufacturer.

  • "Equipo Especial" (Special Equipment): Covers damage or theft of additional accessories or decals installed in the vehicle.
